Flora Adamian
Class of 2023
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Education:Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA; Major: Diplomacy and World Affairs, Minor: German
Work Experience: After graduation, I spent one year abroad as a Congress-Bundestag Fellow in Berlin, Germany. There, I interned for the German Parliament and worked as a local news reporter for KCRW Berlin, an NPR member station. After my time abroad, I worked as a journalist covering local news in Los Angeles and as a fact-checker debunking misinformation related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 Presidential Election. Most recently, prior to MAGES, I worked on Capitol Hill as a Press Assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means.
Why I Chose MAGES: MAGES provides a special opportunity to study the transatlantic relationship—coming from a German and International Relations background, I especially appreciate the program's focus on blending my two fields of interest.
Intended Academic Focus: I am interested in exploring effective means for preventing and mediating future conflicts between nations, ethnic groups, or domestically within states. I am especially intent on finding solutions for reconciliation and combatting extreme polarization. My regions of focus include Germany, Turkey, and the Caucasus.
