Class of 2020
Hometown: Wuxi, China
Education: B.A. in History, Minor in German
Work Experience: I did most of my internships in Germany. In 2016 I was the assistant to the program director of Sarah Lawrence Summer in Berlin program. I helped American students travel in the Berlin area and managed the budget for the program. When I was an exchange student at the University of Mainz, I worked as an editor and assistant researcher at the Institut für Geschichtliche Landeskunde an der Universität Mainz e.V, a local history research center. I also worked as an editor for Shuying Academy, a college consulting company in Shanghai during the summer in 2018.
Why I Chose MAGES: When I was a senior, I had no idea what I wanted to do after graduation. My German professor suggested that I find a career that could reflect my experience as a “global citizen” in China, America, and Germany. I knew I would need more time to prepare for that career, so I started to apply to graduate schools and found the MAGES program at Georgetown. The MAGES program gives me not only the knowledge about Germany and Europe but also the information I need to design my career path. Besides, Georgetown and D.C have so much to offer, so I am excited about this program.
Intended Academic Focus: German History
