Work Experience: At my college, I was an assistant German teacher, a grader for the Economics department, and the head Sunday School teacher. While studying abroad in Munich, Germany, I worked as a private English tutor and at a local Biergarten. For four summers I was a camp counselor and eventual unit director.
Why I Chose MAGES: I chose MAES because of the program’s interdisciplinary breadth that would allow me to build a wide area of expertise within European Studies, the support that Georgetown and DC provide for professional advancement, and the chance to study with and learn from some of my most talented peers in the field of European affairs that I want to pursue. MAES stood out to me for the strong alumni network, access to a wide range of courses and adjuncts working in the fields of policy and research, and its international connections.
Academic and Research Interests: Forced migration and narratives of nationhood in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly the post-memory of expelled populations; and the politics of tourism.
