A Message from CGES Director, Abraham Newman

I am thrilled to grab the baton and become the fourth director of the BMW Center for German and European Studies at Georgetown University. Since joining the Center in 2006, I have watched it thrive as a key player in intellectual debates on the future of European Studies and as one of the finest training grounds for the next generation of transatlantic leaders.

From Russia’s war in Ukraine to the climate crisis, our mission could not be more urgent. As director, I look forward to bringing together our community to discuss such challenges in an open and inclusive manner, while also fostering cutting edge research across our disciplines.
